On Tuesday 18 September 2018, the French Chamber of Commerce in Singapore organized a breakfast talk on Myanmar 2018 Union Tax Reform. At this seminar, DFDL Yangon Senior Tax Manager Diberjohn Balinas discussed recent developments in Myanmar tax laws and regulations, including the 2018 Union Tax Law, the new Withholding Tax Notification, and recent changes to tax policies and practices in Myanmar. Additionally, Diber provided practical insights on the most effective ways of investing and doing business in Myanmar, especially for Singapore investors, taking into account the existing tax treaties and local taxation rules in the country.
The insightful session was well received by all of those present, ending with an engaging Q&A session where attendees of the seminar had insightful exchanges with our Myanmar tax expert on all the topics under discussion.
