Myanmar Economic Growth and a Clear Legal Playing Field

William D. Greenlee, Jr. and Jaime Casanova have written an update of the legal situation in Myanmar as it pertains to current and potential investors.

The article contains lists of industries open for different levels of foreign investor participation, as well as updates about key new pieces of Myanmar investment legislation.

These pieces of legislation include the Foreign Exchange Management Law, the Central Bank of Myanmar Law and the Security Exchange Law. Additionally, Myanmar recently became the 149th contracting state to the New York Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards which will improve conditions for foreign investors in Myanmar.
