We are proud to share that DFDL Cambodia acted as local counsel for International Finance Corporation (IFC), Nederlandse Financierings-Maatschappij voor Ontwikkelingslanden N.V. (FMO), Advans S.A. Sicar, La Fayette Participations S.A.S, and Botta Plc. in one of the largest transactions ever concluded in Cambodia – Taiwan’s Bank Sinopac Company Limited’s acquisition of Amret MFI, which is one of the leading microfinance institutions in Cambodia. The team was led by partners Chris Robinson, Vansok Khem and Clint O’Connell, supported by Cambodia legal senior consultants Soromnear Sin and Kang Thavy. This acquisition, with a total transaction value of approximately US$550 million, marks a significant milestone for Cambodia’s financial sector. It highlights a strong vote of confidence in Cambodia, its financial system, and its rapidly expanding economy from prominent international financial institutions.
We provided legal and tax guidance throughout the transaction, including merger clearance from the Cambodia Competition Commission (CCC). This successful transaction showcases our ability to provide tailored legal and tax solutions for large, complex cross-border M&A deals.
