On 20 October 2020, Dave Seibert (DFDL Senior Legal Adviser and Deputy Head of the Regional Energy, Mining and Infrastructure Practice) was pleased to participate in Neoventure’s latest ‘APAC Solar Energy Digital Event 2020 – Vietnam Chapter’. This live event focusing on Vietnam combined a showcase of sponsors, webinar sessions and one-to-one ‘online match-making’ of solar developers, sponsors and so on. Dave moderated the panel discussion on ‘The Way to Achieve Success and Maximize the Economic Benefits under Competitive Auction Mechanism – Implication on Projects, International and Local Collaboration & Sustainable Development in Vietnam’. Together with other key experts, Dave discussed solar park auction mechanisms, comparisons across the region of costs, tariffs, regulatory and structural issues, collaboration methods between international and local developers, PPA bankability issues and legal perspectives of Vietnam-based solar developments. All industry players joined this forum, gained invaluable knowledge on investment opportunities in the Vietnamese solar industry and had their concerns expertly addressed.
