We wish to bring to your attention that the deadline for applying for foreign employee work permits for 2020, with the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training (“MLVT”), is 31 March 2020. This obligation applies to every employer in Cambodia employing foreign employees, including representative offices, branches, private limited companies, NGOs, associations, etc. Failure to comply with the deadline will result in late submission fines being imposed by the MLVT and/or other relevant authorities in Cambodia.
Failure to comply with the foreign employee work permit requirements could result in fines for each offense of up to USD 630 by the MLVT and/or up to USD 900 by a court. Furthermore, Chapters 5 and 6 of the Law on Immigration provide for a term of imprisonment of up to three months and deportation orders may also be issued to the foreign employees concerned.
Cambodian authorities are strictly enforcing the laws concerning employment of foreign nationals in Cambodia. Unless you have done so already, we strongly recommend that employers with foreign employees submit foreign employee work permit applications by the above deadline.
