Our Malaysia firm – Robin Lynn & Lee (in collaboration with DFDL) sponsored a thought-provoking panel at the Asian Legal Business Malaysia In-House Legal Summit 2025 held at The Westin Kuala Lumpur recently. The session, “Fireside Chat: In the Age of Data: Navigating Personal Data, Cybersecurity, and Compliance Challenges,” featured Robin Teow, Managing Partner at Robin Lynn & Lee (in collaboration with DFDL), Hui Lynn Tan, Partner at Robin Lynn & Lee and Chen Sue Ann, General Counsel at ERS Energy Sdn Bhd.
In today’s fast-evolving regulatory environment, data protection is no longer just a legal checkbox, it has become a core business priority. The panel explored not only the “what” of legal requirements, but the “how” of implementation, and shared examples on cybersecurity threats and how businesses need to re-examine their policies and privacy frameworks. In-house counsels play an important role in educating stakeholders and stepping up as strategic advisors in product development and digital transformation. With the proposed Cybersecurity Act on the horizon, organizations must start assessing their incident response protocols, sectoral obligations, and overall cyber hygiene.
Robin Teow commented, “It was a privilege to sponsor and take part in such a dynamic exchange of ideas. Events like these remind us of the value of collaboration between law firms, in-house counsels, and industry leaders as we navigate new legal and technological frontiers together.”
