William D. Greenlee, Jr., Partner and Deputy Managing Director (Myanmar), was recently quoted in the International Financial Law Review article “Myanmar Capital Markets: What to Expect” about the prospects for development of capital markets, such as the Yangon Stock Exchange, in Myanmar.

The status of capital markets in Myanmar is currently unclear, as the country lacks both a securities law and a dedicated regulator.

Nevertheless, the area is drawing more investor interest, but thus far investors have only been able to access Myanmar company securities through other exchanges, such as the Singapore Exchange.
