For the occasion, EuroCham Myanmar gathered a team of experts from its Legal and Tax Advocacy group to round up the important changes to Myanmar legislation in 2020 along with the key developments that firms can expect in 2021. In terms of 2020 tax, speakers touched upon the draft Income Tax Law, the new Union Taxation Law 2020 and critical changes to the Commercial Tax Law. Meanwhile on the legal side, discussions primarily centered on the COVID-19 Economic Relief Plan and the Consumer Protection Law 2019. Looking ahead to 2021, the new Income Tax Law with its introduction of transfer pricing rules and new VAT system, new E-commerce guidelines and the National Land Law were also outlined in greater detail.
