DFDL Celebrates Handover of Landmark Phu My 2.2 Power Project to Vietnam Electricity

DFDL is extremely pleased to celebrate the successful handover of the Phu My 2.2 BOT power project to Vietnam Electricity (EVN) after 20 years of operation. This milestone is particularly significant for us, as two of our leading Vietnam advisors played instrumental roles in this landmark deal. Martin Desautels, Senior Partner, contributed to the project from 1999 to 2002, and Phong Anh Hoang, Partner, from 1998 to 2006, encompassing the international bidding process, negotiation of project documents, financing, financial close, and commercial operation date (COD). At the time of our team’s involvement, Phu My 2.2 represented Vietnam’s largest project financing. Following the handover ceremony in Hanoi on February 4, EVN will continue to operate the plant, contributing approximately 4.6 billion kWh of electricity annually to the national grid and ensuring a stable power supply to support energy security and the local economy.

We are very proud to have played a pivotal role in this landmark project and look forward to continuing our commitment to supporting Vietnam’s energy sector.
