DFDL Myanmar Participates at India Business Chamber of Commerce Event

On 15 December 2018, DFDL’s Myanmar Team gave a presentation at an event organized by the Myanmar India Business Chamber of Commerce (“MIBC”) at Park Royal, Yangon. Nishant Choudhary, DFDL Myanmar Deputy Managing Director & Head of Myanmar Banking & Finance Practice, provided a Myanmar regulatory overview and discussed the changes that occurred during 2018. This was followed by Bhawna Bakshi, Legal Adviser, who spoke about the Myanmar SME sector, its growth potential and future prospects. Diberjohn Balinas, Myanmar Senior Tax Manager, gave a presentation on Myanmar Tax regulations.

The event was attended by members of the MIBC and members of the Confederation of Indian Industry (“CII”) with Shreekant Somany, Chairman of the CII National SME Council as the chief guest. The session offered informative insights on the regulatory backdrop of the SME power sector, attractions and challenges in the sector, tax incentives, and expected or upcoming regulatory developments.
